Thanksgiving: Trains, Rupert and the Full Moon

November 30th, 2007 Posted in superteam

We spent Thanksgiving in Colorado visiting family. It was a great trip and one of the highlights was taking the Amtrak Train. We kept expectations low, but it was GREAT! The kids thought it was neat and they slept on the train. You can’t ask for more than that…

Another exciting part of the trip was the fox who paced nervously outside the house nearly the entire trip. He (she?) was quite beautiful and seemed totally unafraid of us which was somewhat alarming. We decided to name him Rupert and there were squeals of horror and delight when he found a mouse and proceeded to whip it around until it finally died. Circle of life and all….

Finally we had great moons the entire trip. On the last night the full moon rose right over the mountains and shone so bright that hours later there were shadows everywhere. The pictures of this (below) don’t capture how strange and cool it was, but they are nice shots.

Amtrak is definitely an experience. Did you get a sleeper car? Also, have you ever been to jimbernard.org? It’s a trip man.

As an alternate-history-future-The-Bricker theorist/guru and noted water drinker myself, I must INSIST that all Americans IMMEDIATELY review the musings of The Future Bricker ™ at jimbernard.org, especially in regards to proper maintence of one’s saliva (mouth fluids).

True dat, The Future Bricker, True dat.

After an enjoyable time seeing the pictures of the kids, the fox, the moon, etc…I was horrified by what I saw on jimbernard.org - it was made exponentially worse by Jen reading the site aloud to me as if that was ok.

    I’m ok, you’re ok. Jimbernard.og - not ok.

Somebody needs to get the Jim Bernard of jimbernard.org together with the timecube.com guy and see what happens. I’m guessing humanity gets saved.

This article is great and all, with really, really nice photos. Really nice. But what I cannot get my mind off of is how unbelievably fortunate I am to be a regular reader of a blog by a guy named Jim Bernard. If it was not for that, I don’t think I would ever, ever discovered jimbernard.org.

I just have to say, the picture of that fox is stunning.
