American Girl(s)

Maddie has long been a fan of the American Girl franchise and owns a number of the books, dolls, toys, etc. Last weekend there was a grand pilgrimage to the new Chicago American Girl Store. Or, as Jake calls it “the doll store.”

And while that is an accurate description, true believers know it is much much more. It includes checking your doll into a fancy hotel where she has her own bed. It means hanging out with your Grandma, Nanny and Mom in your jammies watching American Girl movies. Swimming, eating out and of course the trip to the actual doll store which is so jammed with great stuff that you don’t even know where to begin.

Sometimes its great to be an American girl, and a day at the so-called “doll store” is exactly that.

    Every so often when I need a smile I remember to check your web site Mr.Bernard. It never fails to give me a smile. Your children are obviously amazing young people. Clearly, you have done a pretty good job of being a Dad, and I’m sure that a great Mommy is involved as well. I hope all is well in the big cities.
